Booty Ball

A new sport that combines Soccer, Volleyball, Tennis and Kickball is sweeping the nation (or at least it should be.) That amazing sport is known as BOOTY BALL

The rules of the game are fairly simple

  1. Booty ball is played on a regulation tennis court with the regulation net installed. The outermost boundaries of the tennis court are the boundaries for booty ball.
  2. The regulation Booty Ball is a 16" oversized playground ball with a pebbled rubber finish. NOTE: The regulation booty ball is similar in size and shape to several vinyl "exercise balls" that are available, but only the balls with the pebbled rubber finish are considered real Booty Balls.
  3. Teams may be composed of any number of players, both male and female, but only 6 players per team may be on the court at any one time during play.
  4. Substitute players may rotate onto the court when the team begins possession of the ball.
  5. Service of the booty ball takes place behind the end line. Service begins with the server kicking the booty ball over the net to the receiving team's side of the court.
  6. Service may be done by dropkick, or place kick. A drop kick is when the server holds the ball with both hands in front of him and either holds the ball, or drops the ball and then kicks the ball over the net. The place kick is performed by setting the ball on the court and kicking the ball like a soccer player, or a football place kicker. If a male player faults on a serve (ie. hit's the net, does not get the ball over the net) then service is lost and the opposing team gains service. If a female player faults on service, she is allowed one "do-over" attempt to perform a valid serve. If on the second attempt, the female player faults then the service is lost and the opposing team gains service.
  7. The service is considered "in play" as long as the ball lands in between the boundaries of the receiving team's court. Court boundary lines are considered "in play."
  8. The Booty ball is allowed to bounce one time on the receiving team's court before the receiving team must touch the ball. If the receiving team desires, they may touch the booty ball before it bounces. If the booty ball bounces twice before being touched by the receiving team, the serving team gets a point.
  9. When the Booty Ball is in play, each team may touch the ball a maximum of three consecutive times on its side of the court before it must be returned to the opponent's side.
  10. In between a touch of the ball, the ball may bounce only one time before it must be touched again or else the team forfeits control.
  11. After the third consecutive team touch, the Booty Ball must be immediately returned over the net to the opposing team, it may not touch the ground or the team in possession will lose possession.
  12. As long as the serve lands "in bounds" of the receiver's court the booty ball may bounce anywhere out of bounds that the receiving team has possession of the ball.
  13. Points are scored as the serving team does not allow the receiving team to return the ball. If the serving team does not return the ball, they lose their serve and the opposing team becomes the serving team.
  14. The use of hands or arms is not permitted in Booty Ball. If a player makes contact with the ball with any part of the arm below and including the shoulder the team forfeits control of the ball, and if the offending player is on the receiving team, they forfeit a point to the serving team.
  15. The use of any other body part is permitted, and encouraged.
  16. If the serving team scores a point by the act of a player hitting the ball over the net with his booty, that team scores two points instead of the regular one point.
  17. Games are played to a score of 21, with a minimum 2 point advantage for the winning team. (i.e. If the game is tied at 20 points, the winning team will have to score 22 points to be considered the winners.)
